My personal story!

Hello my name is Lea-Sophie and I am already 5 years old! For me it was very difficult to find my diagnosis and my parents were with me in many hospitals and many physicians. The rescue helicopter had to make an emergency landing in our garden often because of my severe hypoglycaemia with seizure, at times almost every week!

But then I was on vacation at the Baltic Sea and was once again a hypo. We had to very quickly as an emergency to the nearest district hospital. And there happened to be a very young assistant physician, who had recently co-supervised in Greifswald, a child who had been operated on by Prof. Barthle. He had by this - is rare disease hyperinsulinism and recommended as the first stop the Professor Mohnike in Magdeburg - admittedly. There, a genetic study was made which was typical for a focal form! I was also sent to the PET-CT in the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Center Frankfurter Tor in Berlin. In addition to the doctors there and my parents were also from Magdeburg and Prof. Prof. Mohnike Barthle of Greifswald in the investigation there. First saw the PET-CT looks like a diffuse form, but after 2 hours of painstaking work finally succeeded to the specialists in the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Center, the focus in the middle part of the pancreas found. Thus the chance for complete healing was given by a surgery! And so it happened: the next day's trip to Greifswald, where the laparoscopic removal of the same focus, two days after the operation fit! After 9 days, we were then cured and discharged home my parents have not felt a measure of blood sugar more. I am so glad that we did that and my parents did not let other parents feel insecure. Namely who have phoned us and warned of an operation and discouraged us seriously! They did not even know that in a modern surgery in Greifswald, only a small portion of the pancreas is removed, a diabetic so that later can not occur! If my parents had listened to such advice, I'd still ill and would often call an ambulance, but now I'm healthy and can hypoglycemia and generally forget all my sickness!

A year after the successful surgery in Greifswald

A contribution from us!The first year after successful surgery in Greifswald!
Hi I am the little Lea-Sophie 4years! Old and since one year I am healthy core
On 16/05/2011 I had an operation in Greifswald on the pancreas.
My parents can still remember exactly how the day was off.
At about 7:30 I was vorbereiteet on the most important hours of my life.
At about 8.Uhr I was taken by 2 sisters of children for intensive surgery and my parents were there.
I cried a lot and did not know what to expect.
I was very scared.
My dad brought me to the gate and then I transferred to the experienced anesthetists.
My dad has been waiting until I was in it and said to me, honey, it will be good you create it!
Dad then went he also wept.
And I was all alone and I cried a little.
Then came the anesthetic and I was operated on by Prof.Winfried Barthlen and his great team.
For my parents, the 6 hard hours between hope and fear.
We considered whether it was the right decision but we have a long talk with one another and thought it was the right decision Lea-Sophie was operating permit.
In Prof.Winfried Barthlen and his team was in good Händen.Prof.Barthlen treated the young patients he operated on, as his own children and that was very important to us.
We parents were very tense if the OP verläuft.Dann good came the decisive call.
It's all gone well told Prof.Barthlen.Uns a whole mountain is off my mind, we were so relieved that it was over.
Then we wanted to get to Lea-Sophie.Als we were on the pediatric intensive ankammen Lea-Sophie intensive treatment and care.
Her it was good.We have stayed 10 days then it went back home.
Hurrah said Lea-Sophie.
At home everything was so unfamiliar BZ no measure and no more Medicare more Lea-Sophie was happy right.
We talked a lot with her about the surgery and make it even immer.Die first time was I (mom) is still very uncertain, I went down the hate still afraid of the BZ.
With every little cough I wanted BZ measure but said Thorsten read it.
It's all very good. The first few months I have still the pricking device VIDEOJET anywhere from fear.
But then I noticed this is Lea-Sophie's values have stabilized.
So now I want Lea-Sophie, say something!
My concern gut.Ich go alone without crying for gymnastics and for the game loop without crying.
I have become much looser, bolder and more independent.
My eating habits have also changed, I no longer have all 4hours what I can eat now time, hungry, I eat now also like fruits and vegetables that I have not previously looked at times. I have now. Also no longer afraid of Mrs. Becker, my pediatrician, I just have fear of doctors with white coats
I was in this year, still a OP.Mir above all teeth removed and then I top 4, crowns, get, all alone when the others come out.
My teeth had been completely broken out since the duch the disease hyperinsulinism.
And there's a piece of news I come after the summer holidays finally to kindergarten after we had fought over 1 year.
Anything else, the authorities and the health insurance companies should learn more about the disease hyperinsulinism before you reject everything!
And last but not least! I'm fine.Neu!

Hyperinsulinism together we are strong!
